Building Communities : Chiang Mai 2016
Following our successful installment of Building Homes, Woh Hup is back with Building Communities.
This year, we partnered with YMCA to construct the Love & Care Centre in YMCA Sankhampaeng District, Chiangmai Thailand, as part of YMCA’s development project in Chiang Mai.
In the month of March 2016, over a period of 4 weeks, close to 200 staff from Head Office, four Woh Hup projects – Sims Urban Oasis, Coco Palms, Jewel and T205 (Woodlands South Station) – and our sister company, and Tanglin Corporation Private Limited, took turns to make 4 days 3 nights trips to the village.
Woh Hup staff worked alongside a YMCA community to build a community centre designed for the elderly and youths to interact with one another and for the youths to take care of their seniors. Currently, the locals have been suffering from cramped spaces in the temple and as a result, are unable to provide an efficient learning environment for the elderly and youth.
In addition to the donation made for building the Love & Care Centre, Woh Hup has also sponsored items such as refrigerator, ceiling fans and LCD Projector to get the centre going. On the last trip, Executive Director, Mr Ngiam Siew Kim, had the honour to unveil the new Love & Care Centre.
A big thank you to all who contributed to this meaningful cause. No matter how big or small your contributions are, all of you have definitely made a difference to the community and touched the hearts of many in the process.
