Scholarships & Bursaries
Woh Hup have always been supportive of higher education. We first established the Woh Hup Bursary at the National University of Singapore in 1977, in celebration of our 50th Anniversary. The most recent contribution from Woh Hup was a SGD$1 million donation to support the Lee Kuan Yew Fitzwilliam-NUS PhD Scholarship. We hope the recipients will benefit from this Scholarship and go on to contribute to the global community through education, research and industry.

2018 - Set up the Woh Hup Bursary (Engineering) with Singapore Institute of Technology
2017 - Gifted in support of an endowed Visiting Professorship at National University of Singapore, Civil and Environmental Engineering department
2015 - Donated to National University of Singapore Centre for Law & Business in honour of the late Mr. Edmund William Barker's role as a founding father, a law minister and his contributions to Singapore
2012 - Sponsored 4 Diploma with the inaugural Building and Construction Authority Diploma Scholarship Programme and started the Singapore Technology and Design Endowment Fund
2011 - Introduced Woh Hup Endowed Scholarship with National University of Singapore (School of Design and Environment) and National Technological University (School of Civil and Environment Engineering)
2007 - Set up the Woh Hup Scholarship with National University of Singapore (School of Design and Environment) providing career development support into the construction industry
1999 - Donated to Ong Siew May Professorship, National University of Singapore
1977 - Established the Woh Hup Bursary at the National University of Singapore providing financial support to 54 less-fortunate students to date
Project Completion Fundraising Initiatives
We organise donation drives and rope in our subcontractors, clients and consultants to raise funds for a chosen charity selected by our project team during celebratory dinners that we host when a project is completed. Since 2012, we have organized 33 fundraising initiatives. We are thankful to our business partners for their generosity and for sharing the same vision with us to create a better environment for those in need. Their kind contributions have helped to raise more than $2.5 million for 21 charities.

Staff Volunteerism
Woh Hup encourages our employees to participate actively in charity work locally and overseas. Over the past 9 years, 1,500 staff have volunteered in various charity work and contributed more than 17,000 volunteering hours. Staff are recognized for their effort in dedicating their time to do good, through the Annual Volunteers Appreciation Luncheon, an initiative launched in 2018.
Woh Hup was conferred as one of the Champions of Good in 2018, 2020, 2022 and 2024. Champions of Good is part of the National Volunteer & Philanthropy Centre’s Company of Good programme that exists to inspire and activate companies to do good. The purpose of recognising organisations as Champions of Good is to acknowledge and validate companies for the good work they do in corporate giving and facilitating opportunities for them to grow and influence giving in Singapore. We are honoured to receive the awards as this is a testament, especially for our staff who have selflessly contributed their time to serve the community. Charity Luncheon for the Aged
We host biannual charity luncheons for the elderlies in June and December every year since 2012, where elderlies would be entertained by different kinds of performances that we have arranged including performances by our own staff volunteers. As of 2024, we have hosted 19 luncheons and our volunteers have served more than 6,300 elderlies from various senior care facilities and centres.
Giving Activities
In 2018, we introduced our own volunteering programme where we work with 2 to 4 charities every year on a 10-month volunteering programme to provide a more meaningful giving journey for our staff and the beneficaries. We have worked with Alzehimer’s Disease Association, MINDS and SPD on befriending programme; Singapore Children’s Society on craft work and tuition; TOUCH Community Services on home cleaning. In addition, 3 sessions of litter picking were organized for our staff to participate with their family and friends. Beyond these, we are also supportive of community events organised by charities such as NKF health screening sessions where our staff helped out the event as usher and registration assistant. We will continue to organize volunteering work for our staff to stay engaged with the less-privileged community.
Overseas Community Involvement Programme
Besides being actively involved in local volunteering work, we have worked with local charity organizations to organize Overseas Community Involvement Programme (OCIP). We partnered with The Chain Reaction Project to build 30 homes in a village in Manila when our staff volunteers visited over three years consecutively between 2012 and 2014. We also went on to build a community centre in Chiang Mai in 2016. In 2018, we partnered with Mercy Relief to build water supply system for 1 village and 2 schools in Hmawbi Township, Yangon.
With contribution of a significant sum to carry out the projects, we also involved some of our staff from Singapore office to participate in the building works on voluntary basis, but expenses were fully borne by the company. These OCIP trips have benefited our staff in many ways - they learned and bonded more with one another and they worked hard together to help others. Many of those who have participated in the projects commended that they are fulfilling, and they look forward to more of such trips.
Charity Sports
On top of philanthropy and volunteering work opportunities, Woh Hup actively sponsors employees and their family and friends in various charity runs and walks to support the organizing charities, and as part of the company’s initiative to promote a healthy lifestyle. We support charity sporting events including Charity Futsal Tournament by Boys’ Town, Down Syndrome Day and Walkathon by Down Syndrome Association (Singapore), Race Against Cancer by Singapore Cancer Society’s and Walk for Our Children by Singapore Children’s Society.
Woh Hup Trust
In 2011, Woh Hup Trust was formed with the mission to provide financial support for social integration of the elderly and under-privileged children in our society. The Trust, supported by funding from Woh Hup (Private) Limited, has disbursed more than S$2.6 million funds to 47 charities such as Club Rainbow, Geylang Home for the Aged, Home Nursing Foundation and St Luke's Eldercare.
